McGrew Trail Run
6/12/2010 through 6/13/2010
What:
McGrew Trail Run
This is an overnight trip with primitive camping conditions in Sourdough campground. As of today, fires are still permitted in approved pits at the campground, but it could easily be reduced to a cook stove and lantern show by this weekend. Is there running water available? Yes, it's called the North Fork of the Smith River which is right nearby. There is also one sheltered outhouse on site. This trail was originally part of the overland stage route from Jacksonville to San Francisco. You can literally walk in the wagon ruts of history at one point on the trail. It winds through a large portion of the massive Biscuit complex burn of several years ago. We will be meeting at the market/Post Office in O'brien Saturday morning at 10:00am.
